This guide explains how students and employees can reset their account password using the Password Reset Tool. This tool is designed for first-time users and for users who have forgotten or expired passwords, without needing to contact the IT Help Desk.

What the Password Reset Tool Does

The Password Reset Tool allows you to securely reset your account password by verifying your identity against LSCPA records. The tool validates the information you enter before allowing a password reset.

The tool checks:

  • Your Pnumber / username
  • Your date of birth
  • Your personal email address on file with LSCPA

If all information matches, you will be allowed to reset your password.


Who Can Use This Tool

You can use the Password Reset Tool if:

  • You are a student or employee
  • You are a first-time user setting up your password
  • You forgot your password
  • Your password has expired


Information You Will Need

Before starting, make sure you have:

  • Your Pnumber / username
  • Your date of birth
  • Access to the personal email address that is listed in LSCPA.

The email address must match exactly what is on file. If it does not match, the reset will not proceed.

Password Reset Steps

Step 1: Password Reset Page

Enter your Pnumber / username, date of birth, and personal email address, then submit the form. The system will validate your information against LSCPA records.


 


Step 2: Email Sent Page

If your information is validated successfully, you will see a confirmation page indicating that a reset email has been sent to your personal email address.


Step 3: Change Password Page

Open the reset email, copy the access code and follow the Reset Password link provided. You will be prompted to create a new password that meets the institution’s password requirements


Step 4: Password Changed Successfully Page

After submitting your new password, you will see a confirmation message indicating that your password has been changed successfully. You can now log in using your new password.

Common Issues and Troubleshooting

"Date of birth is incorrect"
  • Make sure you are entering your date of birth exactly as it appears in our records.
"Email address does not match"
  • The email you entered does not match the personal email on file.
"Username does not exist"
  • Verify that your Pnumber / username is entered correctly.
  • If the issue continues, contact the IT Help Desk.
Admin or restricted account
  • Admin accounts are blocked from self-service password resets.
  • Contact IT Support for assistance.

When to Contact the Help Desk

Contact the Help Desk if:
  • You cannot complete the reset after multiple attempts
  • Your personal email in Banner is outdated
  • You receive repeated validation errors
  • You have an admin or special access account
